Passport Services – General Information
(A) General guidelines:
- Original passport must be submitted along with the application for re-issue of passport.
- All copies of documents should be self attested (sign & date).
- Additional documents may be required for verification depending upon the documents submitted.
- The passport application can not be submitted with any name (applicant/parent/guardian/spouse) with an ALIAS/AKA.
- An ordinary passport is valid for ten years from the date of issue. However, the Passport Issuing Authority (PIA) can issue passport even for a shorter duration.
- Minors between the age of 15 and 18 years have a choice to opt between a passport validity of 5 or 10 years. Fee for the applicable duration need to be paid.
- Application for reissue of passport can be submitted from one year before expiry of passport.
- After submission of application, no further changes are permitted.
- The Embassy shall not be responsible for errors in passports due to incorrect details filled in by applicant in the application forms. Applicants are advised to verify and confirm their personal particulars before application is submitted.
- Fee once paid/submitted will not be refundable. For further changes/re-submission of application, fresh fee will have to be paid.
- Processing time would depend on the availability of clear police verification report from concerned authority in India.
(B) Tatkaal services : Tatkaal service is not available at this Mission.
(C) Fresh passport for new born child: Fresh passports for newly born child can only be applied after birth of the child is registered.
(D) How to submit the passport application (documents required and guidelines):
- Duly filled in online application form by visiting https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/
- Current Passport [original and photocopy (first & last page and endorsement pages, if any)]
- Photocopy of valid ONI card or residence certificate or visa
- A recent photograph of size (2inch x 2inch) with plain white background and the dress in preferably in colours offering contrast with background for clarity. ICAO Compliant Photographs.
- Personal particular Form (PPF)
- For change in address, documentary proof viz. utility bill or Aadhaar Card.
- For inclusion/removal of spouse name in the new passport, copy of Registered Marriage Certificate/Divorce certificate, as applicable. If the spouse name has been written on the his/her Indian Passport as spouse, then the registered marriage certificate is not required.
In addition to the above the following documents are required as per the respective cases mandatorily:
- Annexure D by both parents.
Or, In case the minor is currently with a single parent/guardian- Annexure C along with proof of the guardianship/reason why second parent can not countersign/divorce certificate etc. should be submitted).
- Copy of passports of both the parents
- Copy of Registered Marriage Certificate and/or Divorce certificate, if applicable. If the parent’s spouse name has been written on the his/her Indian Passport as spouse, then the registered marriage certificate of parent is not required. (Note - In case the minor is in the custody of a single parent/guardian only his/her passport copy is required).

For applications for a minor's passport in India, parents/guardians may get the required Annexure D or Annexure C, as applicable, attested by the Embassy.
- For LOST PASSPORT: Annexure F along with the Police Report clearly mentioning the lost passport details are mandatory (translated in English language).
NOTE :
- All signatures in the application form should be signed with ballpoint pen of blue or black ink and should exactly fit in the prescribed signature box. Those who cannot affix their signature like infants, minors or illiterates they should put their thumb impression in place of signature (male should use left thumb impression and female should use right thumb impression).
- All the required documents must be self-attested before being uploaded with the online application.
- The Embassy can ask for additional documents from the applicant, if needed, for verification during the process of issuing the passport.
- The applicant should ensure that the name of the police station as mentioned in passport application is the same one, under whose jurisdiction the applicant’s Indian address falls.
- It is an offense under the Passport Act 1967 to furnish false information in the application. Passport facilities would be denied on grounds of suppression of material information, submission of incorrect particulars, willful damage/loss of passport or for unauthorized change/tampering. The passport can be impounded or revoked for violation of one or more of the provisions of the Passport Act.
