Shri Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan

Shri Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan is a career diplomat and joined the Indian Foreign Service in the year 2005. Prior to joining as Ambassador of India to the Cote d’Ivoire, he served as Consul General of India, Atlanta, United States of America from 2023 to 2026.

He served in the Ministry of External Affairs in various capacities. He served as Joint Secretary (Summits) looking after the operation aspects of G20 Ministerial & Working Group Meetings during India’s G20 Presidency. While heading Rapid Response Cell Division, as an additional charge, he was in-charge of the Ministry of External Affairs’ communication control room during the Operation Ganga. He also served as Director in Administration & Human Resources, and Policy Planning Division. During 2011 to 2013, he was a Desk Officer for the southern African countries in Africa Division in New Delhi. 

During his other overseas diplomatic assignments, he served in various positions at Indian Missions in Moscow, Dushanbe, Paris and Colombo handling Political, Commercial and Cultural aspects of relations. 

He holds master’s degree in Science faculty. 

He is married to Renuga Devi Subramaniam, who is Occupational Therapist by profession and has a daughter and a son.
